Brooks wanted me to produce work with them, using a narrative style, and because it is handmade, which mirrored the brand's ethos and approach to production, which is very humanistic.
I was initially asked to illustrate a chapter in a book produced by Brooks to commemorate 150 years of the brand called The Compendium of Cycling Culture. It was a beautiful project and I was given real creative freedom to interpret the text in my own style. I was part of a group of photographers and artists including Martin Parr and Paul Smith.
The book was very successful and from this and the exhibition / launch I produced large format work for Pitti Show (2 meters high by 10 meters long for the stand at the show), illustrated articles for the Brooks Magazine, and weekly social media content. I created stop-frame animated content and seasonal artefacts as well.
